A Sample K.A.N. – Table of Equipment
Those of us interested in German unit organization are very familiar with the KStN or the German Tables of Organization. However we are less familiar with the KAN, kriegsausrüstungsnachweisung, mainly because there just does not seem to be that many of them around. These were the tables of equipment that were a companion to the KStN. These are often seen noted next to the KStN number and are often the same number. Both tables combined give you a more complete view of organization and equipment.
Where the KStN notes the organization (grouping of men, typically by role), weapons and vehicles. The KAN is much more granular in terms of equipment. It includes the weapons and vehicles but also has other equipment such as shovels, gas masks, flashlights and specific engineering equipment, if authorized. It gives you a much more detailed look at the equipment available to the unit.
Below you will find links to both a KstN and a KAN for a Machine Gun Company (bicycle), KStN 165c dated November 1st 1944.
Of interest in this particular set is that there seems to be more bicycles authorized than men. Spares I suppose.
As always I welcome any feedback or comments

This is the only K.A.N. I ever seen online, thank you Richard.
