Manual – Panther Maintenance Log
This manual is a maintenance log for a Panther. It shows the servicing required at different mileage (or is that kilometerage). It also has a diagram showing the lubrication points. Don’t know who would be tasked with maintaining this log. The battalion would have had maintenance units in the HQ’s Company and there would of course be the workshop company/platoon as part of the regiment.
The interesting thing about the log is that it shows the chassis number of the Panther it was for, 210733. It also shows that it was issued to Das Reich with a 175km. So just slightly used and probably still under factory warranty. The log seems to show that it reached about 700km or so before use of the log was discontinued. If anyone keeps up with specific Panther issues and losses it would be interesting to know when/where this one was lost. I can’t really make out any of the dates but possible June or July of 1943. Das Reich was issued 16 Panthers in June of 1943 so this may have been one of them.
